Chambertin Grand Cru 2019This is aromatically reserved to the point of being all but mute and requires extensive swirling to gradually liberate the markedly spicy and layered aromas of black cherry, violet, lavender and newly turned earth. The dense and suave broad shouldered flavors possess a texture similar to that of the Clos St. Denis, all wrapped in an overtly saline inflected finale that is austere, powerful and hugely long. This is potentially terrific though again,

intense and mineral-inflected flavors that possess fine complex though once again there is a slightly edgy

On the palate it has a little more body

The three grands crus from the Côte de Nuits are all majestic in their different styles

There is a lovely sense of underlying tension and detail to the lightly mineral-inflected flavors that exhibit a taut muscularity on the delicious

The nose develops bright aromas of lemon mixed with notes of ripe fruit

Patience required but this beauty should be worth the wait
